La vie n'est pas un chocolat

La vie n'est pas un chocolat

In an obscure old warehouse, musicians were positioned all over the place. Because of the distance between the players, the normal ways of playing together like with conductor weren't possible. Synchronised clocks directed starting points and speed. In this setting, the music felt sometimes more like a coincidental collection of sounds instead of a composed piece and the experience for the visitor is more like attending a special event; something that just happens in a lucky place, rather than a concert that is purposely constructed for the listener. Since the audience can walk around freely in between the musicians, the music can evoke an experience of unity between the architecture and the sound.
On selected moments, some ten dancers took advantage of the entire space (choreography by Ina Stockem i.c.w. the dancers). Additionally the piece "Rebounds" (by Xenakis, played by Barry Jurjus) was put inside my composition. Fluently, this night turned into a dance party with DJ Yazz.
