The sea does not consider us.

M.S. Blommendal, Maritime District North Amsterdam, June 2004

All huts, holds and engine rooms of this enormous navy vessel were open to the public, who roamed around freely, with hard hats and head lamps. Before the audiences arrival the musicians of Orkest de Volharding had already taken their positions at various points on the ship and at certain times their music would resound throughout the space.
Also woven into the event were intriguing encounters with actors, works of art by, amongst others, James Beckett and Stani Michiels and compositions by Mayke Nas, Marianthi Papalexandri and Aspasia Nasopoulou. Visitors relaxed with nautical snacks and strong liquor and the serenade on deck reverberated throughout the harbour under a fickle sky.
