Fruit of the day is the lament of a string
In this piece I used a large range of elements of South Indian Classical music, like ornaments, polyrhythms and a specific microtonal scale.
The viola is really the leading voice. The effort of the players is deliberately very unequally distributed; keeping the piece strongly in one dimension only. By avoiding too much polyphony, I tried to create some space in which the listener can focus on detail. In that sense you might call this piece micromusical music. (1999/2002)
