Redetachment

Sweelinck's music is, in my opinion, a pinnacle of refinement and beauty. Starting with this music, "Heronthechting" goes back to the roots of unstructured sound and independent musicians. Gradually they find each other and discover the power of playing together.
In this way my piece becomes a kind of past history of Sweelinck's refined music. Rather than creating yet another piece of music, I wanted to explore how the raw sounds of the world can develop on their own into something noble, and at what point refined beauty arises out of struggle. (2000-2001)
